PETRA KALTENBACH Artist of the Fine Arts | Video Artist | GraphicDesigner | Energetic Healer Master of Visual Communication In 1985, I earned a Master’s degree with honors in Visual Communication at FH Duesseldorf/Germany. For approximately 20 years, I ran my own advertising agency successfully and served national and international clients. Founding a family and moving to Dubai in 2004 brought me more intensively to the fine arts. 2014, I created QR_ART, which helps me to express my core theme ‘Transformation’. QR_ART means that my work is at least consisting of two creations – one painted and one digital artwork – connected via QR code. As a communicator I felt the gap between observer and the medium of painting and also between observer and the medium of video / sound. Always being attached to technologies while reproducing my designs it seemed logical to me to use a (QR-) technology to fill this gap. Since 2016 I explore UV printing in combination with painting extensively. For all prints on my paintings I use ‘Arizona’ - a high quality printing machine from Canon / Oce. In 2016, I was shortlisted by the International Emerging Artist Award / IEAA Additionally I was nominated, with one of my videos, as one of the best discoveries since the inception of the IEAA. I won a few art contests. In 2017, my video is shortlisted for the Burj Khalifa Facade and I was named as one of the 10 best local artists of World Art Dubai. Since September 2017 I’m in the sponsorship program of Canon. I have the status ‘Canon Explorer’, which includes sponsorship in the Middle East.
